Team and roles

The Team page is under Team, then Team. It answers two questions: who can open this restaurant, and what each person may do.

The three roles

  • Owner: everything, including Billing. Only an owner can change the plan or pay an invoice.
  • Manager: everything except Billing. Managers run service, the menu, stock, guests, reports, settings and the team.
  • Staff: service only. Orders, POS, Till, Payments, Kitchen display, Reservations, Dispatch and Rooms. The other menus are not shown to them.

Money decisions need a manager or an owner: refunding a payment, waiving a deposit, a paid-out or a drop from the till, and a discount on a bill.

Invite someone

Under "Invite someone", enter the email and pick the role, then "Send invitation". The invitation waits under "Waiting to accept" with its expiry and who sent it; "Resend" sends the email again and "Revoke" withdraws it. The person opens the link, creates their account or signs in, and appears under "Members" with "Joined" and the date. Someone already on the team cannot be invited again.

An invitation to be an owner is honoured only if an owner sent it; sent by a manager, it grants manager.

Change a role or remove someone

On a member's row, "Change role" moves them between the three roles; "Remove" takes them off this restaurant after a confirmation. Their past actions stay in the activity log under their name.

PINs on the till

"Set PIN" gives a member a code of 4 to 6 digits; "Clear PIN" removes it. PINs are unique within the restaurant. On the till, a PIN does two things: it switches who is acting when several people share one tablet, so every order and payment carries the right name, and a manager's PIN approves what staff cannot do alone, such as voiding an item that is already on the pass, a discount, or marking a dish sold out when that needs a PIN.

The POS and till guide shows where the PIN is asked.

Several restaurants

One account can belong to several restaurants, with a different role in each. After signing in, a member of one restaurant lands on its Home; a member of several picks one first.

Your own account

Under your name in the header, the account page holds your name, email, password and two-step verification: a code from your phone in addition to the password. Owners and managers are encouraged to switch it on. "Other sessions" lists where else the account is signed in, and "Sign out everywhere else" ends them with your password. "Delete my account" removes your name and email; an owner has to hand the restaurant over or close it first.

Activity

Settings, then Activity, lists who did what and when: plan changes, settings saved, orders cancelled, deposits waived, tills closed. A superadmin acting for support appears as "Platform".
