Printers, screens and the kiosk
Printers and screens are set up under Settings, in the "Devices and messages" group: "Thermal printers" and "Screen links". The kitchen display itself needs no link: it is the Kitchen display page, opened by a signed-in member on the kitchen's tablet, as the Kitchen display guide explains.
Add a printer
Under "Add a printer", give it a name and choose its type: "Kitchen" for tickets at the pass, or "Receipt" for the guest's bill. Then pick the "Connection":
- "Network (LAN)": an ESC/POS printer on your own network. Type its "Host / IP" and "Port".
- "Star CloudPRNT": the printer collects its tickets from us over the internet, so nothing needs opening on your router. Follow "Setup instructions": copy the "Server URL" into the printer's CloudPRNT page and restart it. It shows "Online" here within a minute.
For a kitchen printer, choose its "Kitchen station" so the grill prints only grill tickets, or "Any / fallback" for everything without a printer of its own. Press "Add printer", then "Test print".
A failed print never holds up an order: the POS shows a reprint message instead. "Deactivate" pauses a printer without removing it. "Issue a new URL" replaces a CloudPRNT address, and the old one stops at once.
Screen links
Each branch has three screens, each opened from a link on the device itself:
- "Display board": the wall screen guests watch for their order number.
- "Counter (uses the same token as the board)": the screen at the counter.
- "Kiosk": the self-order kiosk. It also has a QR code, so a tablet can be paired by scanning.
Press "New link" to make one. For your security a link is shown only once, right after it is made: "Copy link" and open it in the browser of the screen, then add it to the home screen or set it as the kiosk page so it survives a restart.
A new link replaces the old one at once: the screens paired with the old link go blank until you open the new one on them. Use it when a device is lost or replaced.
